October 2020 Blood Drive in Haverford Township, PA

Many, many thanks to everyone who attended the Carol H. Axelrod Memorial Blood Drive in Haverford Township on October 8! We can’t tell you how grateful we are to you for your commitment to donating blood and helping patients and families throughout our region, especially during this very challenging time. We are thrilled to announce that, thanks to all of you, we collected an incredible 170 units of blood products. That’s enough to help more than 500 hospital patients receive lifesaving transfusions in the days and weeks ahead!

As some of you know, we began holding blood drives in Carol’s memory in 2008. The drive on October 8 was our 33rd blood drive overall, but it was the first time that we had held a drive in Haverford Township. You helped us collect one of our highest one-day totals EVER, and we deeply appreciate the help and support that we received for this drive. Whether you were already familiar with us or you were attending one of our drives for the first time, we are grateful to all of you for a wonderful introduction to this new location!

We are very pleased that the drive not only saved lives but also raised support for the Delaware County Interfaith Food Assistance Network (DIFAN). We appreciate having the opportunity to highlight the essential work that this organization is doing in the community.

Our family normally holds four blood drives each year. With so much uncertainty surrounding the availability of our regular venues during the pandemic, our planning for 2021 is temporarily on hold. But all of you motivate us to continue to build on Carol’s legacy by helping even more patients, and we hope that it won’t be too long before we can once again greet all of our donors in person (and, in addition to gift bags, offer the prize drawings and homemade refreshments that typically are part of our drives!). We will keep everyone up to date on the status of the drives via email and our website. We also invite you to follow us on Twitter (@CHABloodDrive) and Facebook (@CHABloodDrive) and on Instagram (@cha_blooddrive).

We are always inspired by the people who we see donating blood at our drives, and we thank all of you for your commitment to helping patients who need transfusions. We sincerely hope that we will be able to see many of you in person at one of our blood drives in 2021. In the meantime, we wish you and your families a safe, healthy, and happy fall and winter!

Thank you to the organizations and media outlets that helped us spread the word about the drive!
