October 2019 Blood Drive at Lankenau Medical Center
Thank you for supporting the 12th Annual Carol H. Axelrod Memorial Blood Drive at Lankenau Medical Center!
It was wonderful to see so many donors join us, especially as everyone headed into the weekend! The past few months have been a difficult period for blood collection, and there is an urgent need for donors of all blood types to give blood. Our donors certainly heeded the call: Thanks to your generosity, we collected 238 units of blood, meaning that as many as 714 patients will be able to receive lifesaving transfusions in the days and weeks ahead. THANK YOU for making it possible for so many patients and their families to spend another day together during this challenging time!
We are pleased that the blood drive was able to raise support and awareness for the Narberth Community Food Bank and Tree House Books. A very special additional thank you goes to those donors who helped us “trick-or-treat” on behalf of these organizations by contributing food items and children’s books!
We also would like to extend our appreciation to Harri Leigh of PBS39 (WLVT-TV), who put together a beautiful piece about the blood drive. For those who may be interested, Harri’s story can be found here.
It is incredibly inspiring to see so many people donating blood, and all of you motivate us to continue to build on Carol’s legacy by helping even more patients. Blood products must be on the shelves and ready to use before they are needed—and the need is constant. Our family’s next drive is planned for February 28, 2020, at The Shipley School in Bryn Mawr, and we would love to see you there!
Thanks to the support of so many generous blood donors since 2008, the blood drives held in Carol’s memory have now collected enough blood products to have helped nearly 14,000 recipients. Whether you have donated blood, volunteered your time, provided food or drawing prizes, assisted with logistics, or helped us spread the word and recruit blood donors, you have played an integral role in the success of the drives, and we are so grateful to you.
Once again, we extend our most heartfelt thanks to all of you for your help, your support, and your commitment to saving lives. We look forward to seeing you in 2020!
Thank you to all of the extremely generous businesses and organizations that supported the October 2019 blood drive!
Special thanks also go to the numerous friends and family members whose contributions of time, ideas, drawing prizes, and support provided an enormous boost to our efforts. The blood drive could not have been successful without all of them!
