May 2018 Blood Drive in Radnor Township, PA
We are thrilled to announce that the #GiveBloodToHonorMatt campaign on May 8 was a huge success!
Thanks to the generosity of so many blood donors in the Philadelphia region and beyond, more than 400 units of blood were collected in Captain Matthew LeTourneau’s name. These blood products have the potential to save the lives of more than 1,200 people in the days and weeks ahead—a wonderful and fitting tribute to Matt LeTourneau.
At our location in Radnor, we welcomed more than 180 donors and collected 168 units of blood, well above the goal that the Red Cross had set for this drive! We always enjoy seeing familiar faces and meeting new people—and we loved having 29 first-time blood donors join us. The support for our drive and for the overall campaign was incredible, and we are grateful to everyone who played a role in these results.
Many, many people contributed to the success of the day. From blood drive staff and volunteers, to the coordinators of the eight blood drives in Pennsylvania and New Jersey that were specifically dedicated to Matt, to the blood donors who heeded the call in other parts of the country and made a point of donating and posting pictures on social media under the hashtag #GiveBloodToHonorMatt, everyone played an essential role in helping to carry on Matt’s legacy of saving lives.
We are sincerely thankful to everyone who supported this campaign. In honoring Matthew LeTourneau, all of you have followed his example and made a difference in the life of another person!
