March 2018 Blood Drive at The Shipley School

Huge thanks to everyone who braved the weather to donate blood with us at The Shipley School the other day! Although a snowstorm forced the drive to shut down early, your commitment made it possible for us to collect enough blood to help more than 260 hospital patients receive lifesaving transfusions in the days and weeks ahead!

Given that conditions during and after the storm led to the cancellation of numerous blood drives, we are grateful that, with your help, we could play a small part in ensuring that hospitals will be able to maintain an adequate blood supply in spite of numerous weather-related challenges.

While Friday’s blood drive certainly was a memorable one, we are already looking ahead to our next event, which will take place on May 8, 2018, at the Radnor Township Municipal Building in Wayne.  On that day, blood drives around our region will pay tribute to Philadelphia firefighter Captain Matthew LeTourneau, who died in the line of duty in early January. Captain LeTourneau was a regular donor at CHA Memorial Blood Drives, and we are proud to be spearheading this special campaign to honor his heroism and recognize that of all first responders.

Donors outside the area will be able to join in on that day by posting a photo of themselves donating using the hashtag #GiveBloodToHonorMatt. For every pint of blood collected, a donation will be made to the Philadelphia 2nd Alarmers Association, an organization that provides support to first responders during disasters. We hope you will help us spread the word by sharing the hashtag and encouraging others to donate blood!

Again, thank you so much for your support last Friday at Shipley, and for your ongoing commitment to saving lives!

Thank you to the extremely generous businesses and organizations that supported the March 2018 blood drive!

Special thanks also go to the numerous friends and family members whose contributions of time, ideas, and support provided an enormous boost to our efforts. The blood drive could not have been successful without all of them!
